Knewton Survival Workshop (for MTH-101, MTH-102, MTH-105, and MTH-115)

CSS Specialist Galen Turoci will guide students through the process of recreating the video game Pong in the GameMaker Studio 2 game engine. Over the course of three hourlong workshops, Galen will introduce students to game design fundamentals. The workshops will demonstrate practical uses of important aspects of computer science, as well as familiarize students with the basics of game development.

These workshops will provide an overview of APA Style citing and formatting guidelines essential for academic writing (unique to graduate and undergraduate expectations, respectively). The goal is to help you learn to document the use of outside sources in your writing and establish a format that leads to clearer communication with your writing.

Any student can attend any APA workshop, although the Advanced APA Workshops will focus more on graduate-level writing.

Still learning English? Feeling lost in translation? Meet the ELL Specialists and discover free resources available to all NLU students. This workshop series will answer your burning English pronunciation questions and let you practice with our English Language Specialists. In addition, the workshops will help you improve your academic vocabulary and select words that will dazzle your instructors. Students from all classes are welcome in these workshops.

Study Jams is a multi-day event that takes place near the end of the term. It's designed to help students collaborate and finish strong!

Work with Writing and Math Specialists, Instructors, Coaches, and Peer Tutors as you prepare for finals. Refreshments will be served, and all attendees will be entered in a raffle to win Eagle Bucks and NLU Swag!

The event runs simultaneously at three separate locations: Chicago, Wheeling, and virtually over Zoom.
