Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement

Teachers, administrators or school service professionals with a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) can take National Louis University coursework to add a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1) Endorsement to their teaching license. National Louis University offers coursework in preparation for adding an LBS1 Endorsement to your PEL. The LBS1 Endorsement is for licensed teachers with a valid PEL endorsed for the following:

  • Self-Contained General Education (kindergarten – grade 9)
  • Secondary Education with applicable levels and content areas

LBS1 endorsement spans grades K-age 21. NLU’s courses meet the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) standards for endorsement as a Learning Behavior Specialist I (LBS1). In order to earn this endorsement, candidates must pass the LBS1 content test.

Students are required to be admitted to NLU even if they are earning the Bilingual Education Endorsement independently of a degree program or a certificate program. To learn more about the LBS1 Endorsement program or to enroll, please contact an Enrollment Specialist today.
